These are the rules for using Trim. They are written to be read, not to be skipped — there is nothing buried here, and where a term exists mainly to protect us it says so plainly.
Trim is made by Christopher J Hopkins ("we", "us"). You can reach a human at admin@breakwater-digital.com.
By downloading or using Trim, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the app. If you are using Trim on behalf of someone else, you need their permission.
A Trim score is an opinion produced by software, not a fact and not professional advice. The app measures a photograph and returns a number out of 100 across five dimensions — colour, fit, contrast, occasion and polish — with a suggested change for each.
Taste is subjective, and the app has never met you. Do not treat a score as a judgement of you, and do not rely on one for any decision that matters. We do not promise that any score is accurate, consistent between photos, or that anyone else would agree with it.
Trim needs to see a person wearing an outfit. A photo of a room, an object, or clothing laid flat will be declined rather than scored. When your device cannot separate you from the background, Trim says so on the result — the score is then read from a centred crop, and the fit measurement in particular is a rough estimate.
Trim has no record of what you own. It scores photographs of whole outfits, so anything it surfaces is a scan you already took, never a suggestion to buy something.
We do not ask you for a licence to your photos, because we never receive them. Scanning runs entirely on your iPhone. The photo, the score and the breakdown are stored on your device and are not uploaded to us or to anyone else.
That is a design decision, not a promise about a server we operate — there is no server holding your outfits. It also means we cannot recover your scans if you delete them or lose the device. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
If you use Share Score, you are the one sending that image somewhere. Once it reaches another app or service, that service's terms apply to it, not ours.
Sign in with Apple is the only way to sign in. There is no password to create and no email to type. Your account exists so that a Trim Pro subscription follows you to another device without you having to restore it by hand.
Keep your Apple Account secure — anyone who can sign in as you can reach your Trim account. Do not share an account with someone else.
You can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete Account in the app. That removes your Trim account, revokes Trim's Sign in with Apple token, and erases the scans held on the device. It does not cancel your subscription — see below.
You must be at least 13 to use Trim. Trim is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Trim gives you one free scan. After that, a Trim Pro subscription is required both to see that score and to scan again. Prices are shown in the app, in your own currency, before the camera is ever opened.
Trim Pro is $7.99 per week or $44.99 per year in the United States. There is no free trial and no lifetime tier. Billing begins immediately on purchase.
The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
Apple handles the money, not us. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings, or from Account → Manage Subscription in the app. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Neither does deleting your Trim account.
Refunds are Apple's to give. We cannot issue, reverse or expedite one. Request a refund through reportaproblem.apple.com.
If you already own a subscription — on another device, or after reinstalling — Restore Purchases on the subscribe screen brings it back. You do not need an account or a new purchase to use it.
We may change what Trim Pro costs or what it includes. A price change affects renewals, not the period you have already paid for, and Apple will ask you to confirm it before it takes effect.
Use Trim for its purpose and do not use it against other people. Specifically, do not:
We may suspend or end your access if you break these rules.
Trim is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it — not that it will be available, uninterrupted or error-free, not that a score is accurate or useful, and not that it will work on every device.
Scanning depends on your iPhone's own capabilities. Older devices do less of the analysis, which is why some results are marked as an approximate read.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost data, or for anything arising from a styling decision you made after reading a score. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for Trim in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here removes rights you have that cannot legally be removed — including any consumer rights in your country. If a term of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still stands.
You can stop at any time by deleting your account, cancelling your subscription with Apple, and removing the app. We may end or suspend access if you break these terms or if we stop offering Trim. If we withdraw the app entirely, cancel your subscription with Apple so you are not billed again.
If these terms change, the date at the top of this page changes with them. Continuing to use Trim after a change means you accept the new version. If a change is significant, we will say so in the app.
